Separated only by a bridge, Copenhagen and Malmo have the collective size of Berlin. The cities flourish of creativity, and for years one major question has roamed the around: How do we integrate the cultural landscape to get the full potential out of the region. VOLUME has been an integral part in providing the answer: Music. Working with the region’s decision makers and creative forces, VOLUME has developed Öresundsfestival: A two-day event showcasing major and breaking artists from Malmo and Copenhagen. All artists are handpicked by curators from the region’s venues and festivals securing ownership from all corners of the music world. And the concerts are spread over Malmo’s many different venues – from outdoor stages over classic rock clubs to churches. In 2013, the festival was sold out and a third of the audience came from Copenhagen to Malmo. The outcome is clear: Artists get a foot into a new market, bookers and venues in the region strengthen their network, and fans get to experience not only new music, but what the region as a whole has to offer.
With Öresundsfestival VOLUME work with partners such as Malmö Stad, City of Copenhagen, Roskilde Festival, Koda, the music venues of region, and Music Export Denmark.
