IBM Watson was originally invented to decipher and answer questions. Watson’s ability to answer questions correctly was tested in Jeopardy, where Watson beat Rutter and Jennings – two former Jeopardy masters.
Together with PS Communication we had the opportunity to play with the Watson-technology in a musical space. The danish choir Korage, consisting of eight solo artists, had just been formed and wanted to challenge themselves artistically. So the question became: Could we distill eight singers to one person by using the highly innovative AI-technology? How would the harmonies be build? Would artificial intelligence be capable of capturing personality and mood?
Watson was fed with songs and texts from the eight artists and distilled it into one track, which was performed at the Watson Summit in Copenhagen. The journey towards the end product was documented on IBM’s and the individual artists social media channels and gained coverage on national Danish TV and radio.
